Stroman Services
My approach to Direct Services can be summed up by four Point of Light: commitment, responsibility, possibility, and development of a healthy support system. However, before work can be performed effectively, I believe in establish rapport and a caring inclusive learning environment so that these points may illuminate and not confound.
Commitment: SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals of my client are foundational to improvement.Structure and routine help reduce stress by making outcomes more understandable. Well thought-out routines, healthyfriendships, and a sense of responsibility and grace lay the foundation for an improved life. Commitment to improvement comes first.
Responsibility: Responsibility creates positive possibilities. Positive social relationships and a willingness to self-advocate makes positive outcomes possible. SMART goal setting and a record of what works and does not work is the beginning of responsible behavior. Reflecting often helps improve our ability to set and reset goals
Possibility: Positive possibilities are created by being responsible and by being a giving person. If you want to receive good possibilities, provide good possibilities to others. Being a giver starts with understanding who you are. Start by recognizing the special-ness of everyone you know including yourself; learn about what you have. A desire to give starts when you are grateful for what you have. You can’t give when you don’t know what you have. Everyone is a container; no one is empty. (A container always has something…. That is why it is a container.) And you must have the willingness to act on possibilities (self-advocacy).
Support: Strong support systems are created by being responsible and establishing a fertile environment. Healthy plants grow in good soil and require nurturing: water (networking and positivity) and love (healthy social relationships.
